Image 30.33% ECT for mobile phones ! With the introduction of environmental conservation tax (ECT) by the Rajapakse government, for the total amount of the mobile users have to pay as tax in their monthly bills has risen to 30.33%. Earlier the mobile phone uses were levied 15% as Valu Added Tax(VAT) and another 10% as an additional tax making a total of 27.78% tax.

Oil prices fell below $110 per barrel for the first time in last few months, with Brent variety being pegged at $109.59 on Tuesday while the OPEC Basket was trading at $108.86, the Central Bank said. In the Singapore Refined Products market, petrol was trading at $111.60, diesel at $127.45 and kerosene at $134.

India levels the 'idea' series by winning the 2nd ODI played at Ranigiri Dambulu International Cricket Stadium last evening  by three wickets. India won the toss and invited Sri Lanka to bat.
